Job Overview And Responsibilities
The Consumer and Resources Product Stewardship teams belong to the Syensqo Industrial function and interacts closely with multiple functions providing regulatory expertise and guidance to the businesses and R&I.
The Product Stewardship Compliance Specialist will work with Consumer and Resources global research centers and purchasing team to ensure that research and development product line samples, and exported raw materials are appropriately classified for export regulations (including dual use, drug precursor regulations). He/she will be responsible for assessing, advising, steering and implementing product stewardship regulatory strategy and also to define and implement dedicated processes to these activities. In this role he/she will be supported by the Product Steward EMEA & Export Compliance and will participate to back-up activities for the cluster.
In parallel with these activities, the Product Stewardship Compliance Specialist will take an active role in supporting customer inquiries via our dedicated system. To this he/she will have to work closely with the product stewards in charge of the various product ranges.
He/she will benefit from the support of a multi-skilled team with strong collaborative behavior.
The Product Stewardship Compliance Specialist position will report directly to the Product Stewardship Compliance Manager, EMEA.
We can count on you to :
  • Classify exported research samples and raw materials from Consumer and Resources sites in regard to export control regulations (dual use chemicals, drug precursors, PIC regulations etc.) and define/implement processes for these activities.
  • Ensure that SAP EHS database is maintained for samples with appropriate export classification, working closely with the Operations team. Updating as appropriate if new composition information becomes available.
  • Liaise with Global Registration and Solvay export compliance team for global export compliance follow-up and data maintenance. Review and assess portfolio if there are new regulations.
  • Coordinate export control classification topics in the cluster for research samples and raw materials, working closely with regional compliance teams and global product stewards.
  • Work with R&I centers to ensure that other product stewardship requirements for sample shipments (imports, exports and domestic) comply with local regulatory requirements and record keeping.
  • Answers to trade team specific questions on Consumer and Resources R&I portfolio and raw materials.
  • Provide training to the R&I/Business team on regulatory matters.
  • Ensure interface with business/customer service for his/her active role with the customer inquiries through our dedicated SFDC tool
  • Represent Product Stewardship in meetings for communicating around regulatory topics.
  • Manage Product Stewardship activities associated with product portfolio
  • Provide our stakeholders with an optimum perspective between regulatory compliance and added value, compatible with Group policy and procedures.

Performance Objectives
  • Deliver accurate and timely assessment of research products and raw materials for export compliance.
  • Complete and maintain high quality regulatory assessments for assigned products in the timelines required. Maintain compliance for assigned portfolio.
  • Work with GBU research centers to manage R&I product regulatory compliance.

You will bring:
  • Have a graduate level qualification, preferably in a science or engineering subject.
  • At least 3 years of industrial experience is preferred.
  • Experience or understanding of regulatory affairs or product safety in the chemical sector is required.
  • Prior Experience with Export control experience (dual use chemicals) or experience with chemical regulations (such as EU REACH regulations) will be important for this role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to effectively communicate regulatory requirements and strategies.
  • Very good verbal and written English level required for day to day business
  • Strong organizational skills – effectively prioritize competing tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Ability to engage and influence a broad range of stakeholders at different technical levels
  • Highly motivated, results driven with unyielding predisposition to detail, accuracy and clarity
  • Strong critical and logical thinker with ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions
