About Us:

Luo is a fast-growing fintech startup building real-time cross-border payment infrastructure for West Africa. Our platform helps businesses make international payments faster and more affordably. Backed by $4 million in seed funding from top investors—including the co-founder of Monzo and leading experts in cross-border payments—we're now expanding across the continent and looking for a Country Launcher to drive that growth.

Role Overview:

As a Country Launcher, you’ll be on the front line of Luo’s expansion across Africa. You will lead the launch of new markets, from identifying opportunities to setting up the local infrastructure and executing the first commercial deals. This is a highly strategic and operational role that combines market analysis, business development, and execution.

You’ll work directly with the founders and will be responsible for turning new countries into active, revenue-generating markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Assessment & Strategy:
    • Conduct market research to identify and prioritize countries for expansion.
    • Define local regulatory, legal, and financial requirements.
    • Build a launch playbook for new markets.
  • Country Launch Execution:
    • Travel to target countries to open and activate new markets.
    • Establish key relationships with local payment partners, banks, and regulators.
    • Coordinate legal, compliance, and operational setup in-country.
  • Initial Sales & Commercial Ramp-Up:
    • Drive initial B2B sales to validate the product and build early traction.
    • Adapt the go-to-market strategy based on local dynamics and feedback.
    • Serve as the face of Luo during the launch phase in the country.
  • Local Team Setup:
    • Recruit and onboard a Country Manager to take over operations post-launch.
    • Transfer knowledge and ensure a smooth handover to the local team.
What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong commercial instincts with a track record in business development, operations, or consulting.
  • Comfortable working in unstructured environments with a builder mindset.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Passion for Africa and willingness to travel extensively and stay on-site in target countries.
  • Background in business, finance, or related fields—Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Fluent in English and French.
