Description: The increased implementation of AI systems is currently driving forward a large part of product innovation in the health sector. In order to test such AI products rapidly and reliably in terms of their market potential and trustworthiness, the Testing and Experimentation Facility for Health and AI Robotics (TEF-Health) has been established since the beginning of 2023. It is based on the shared expertise of leading university hospitals (Charité, Karolinska Institute), industrial research institutes (Fraunhofer HHI), national metrology institutes (PTB, LNE), as well as authorized certification bodies (TÜV, LNE). Together with the Fraunhofer HHI and the TÜV AI Lab, PTB is establishing a new project team. In this team, PTB will play a major role in advancing the quality assurance of machine learning and AI systems in medicine and will lay the foundation for trustworthy AI within the EU. Two use cases will be the focus point: AI based on time series data and AI based on medical image data.
