Position Overview

The Fixture Builder constructs, assembles, and calibrates custom tools, jigs, and gauges, utilizing engineering drawings to meet precise manufacturing and quality assurance requirements. They operate machinery to fabricate tools that securely hold parts during production ensuring part compliance and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

Build and assemble fixtures, jigs, gauges, and tooling according to engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T requirements, and technical documentation to ensure accurate fixture construction and assembly
  • Perform precision fitting, alignment, and adjustment of fixture components to meet required tolerances and quality standards
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and machining equipment to fabricate, modify, and repair fixture components
  • Conduct functional testing and verification of completed fixtures to ensure proper operation and repeatability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve fixture-related issues to minimize production downtime and maintain manufacturing efficiency
  • Mill Room Operations: Must be fully proficient in the safe setup and operation of all mill room equipment, including band saws, table saws, drill presses, and sanders to prepare raw stock and refine final patterns
  • Technical Calculations: Mathematically account for shrinkage, draft angles, and material-specific expansion for composites and plastics
  • Duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Woodworking, Manufacturing, Skilled Trades, or technical program
  • Basic experience using woodshop tools and equipment
  • Ability to read tape measures and perform basic shop math
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
  • Willingness to learn new materials and manufacturing techniques
  • Ability to work safely with machinery and follow shop protocols

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • 5 years in a similar position within automotive or aerospace manufacturing, with experience in prototype-to-production and display builds
  • Ability to work to tolerances of +/- 0.005” or better

  • Toolbox with the tools needed to perform the job
