About the role
We are looking for an entrepreneurial and commercially driven Head of Business to establish and lead the commercial development of Freedom Digital Bank France.
The role will be responsible for developing the French market strategy, building the bank’s customer base, creating strategic partnerships and identifying sustainable revenue opportunities. The Head of Business will work closely with Product, Marketing, Compliance, Risk, Operations and Technology to develop relevant and compliant digital banking propositions for the French market.
As a member of the founding executive team, the role will contribute to the bank’s regulatory authorisation, establishment and launch in France. The successful candidate will ensure that the commercial strategy, customer-acquisition channels and product propositions meet applicable French and EU conduct and consumer-protection requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the commercial and market-entry strategy for Freedom Digital Bank France.
- Own business growth, revenue, customer acquisition and commercial KPIs.
- Develop the bank’s customer proposition and commercial positioning in the French market.
- Identify priority customer segments, market opportunities and revenue streams.
- Develop strategic partnerships, distribution arrangements and digital acquisition channels.
- Contribute to the design and launch of digital banking products and services.
- Work closely with Product, Marketing, Compliance, Risk, Operations and Technology.
- Ensure commercial initiatives are aligned with the bank’s risk appetite and regulatory obligations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key financial-services, technology and distribution partners.
- Analyse market trends, customer needs and competitive positioning.
- Establish product-governance and commercial-performance processes in collaboration with relevant control functions.
- Ensure that customer communications, campaigns and distribution arrangements comply with applicable financial-promotion and consumer-protection requirements.
- Represent Freedom Digital Bank France at industry events and in meetings with strategic partners.
- Build and lead the local business-development organisation.
- Support the commercial, product and customer-acquisition sections of the regulatory authorisation application.
Requirements
- 10+ years of commercial leadership, business development or general management experience within digital banking, banking, fintech, payments or another regulated financial-services business.
- Strong track record of customer acquisition, partnership development and revenue growth.
- Experience launching or scaling digital financial products in France.
- Established network within the French banking, fintech, payments or broader financial-services ecosystem.
- Strong understanding of French conduct-of-business, consumer-protection and financial-promotion requirements.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to digital distribution, partnerships, remote customer acquisition and the launch of banking products in France.
- Familiarity with relevant ACPR and AMF expectations, GDPR, distance-selling requirements, product-governance rules and consumer-protection frameworks.
- Experience developing compliant customer propositions, marketing campaigns and distribution models with Compliance and Legal teams.
- Experience supporting a regulatory authorisation, market entry or launch of a regulated financial institution in France or another EU jurisdiction is strongly preferred.
- Strong commercial judgement, strategic thinking and execution skills.
- Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder-management capabilities.
- Full professional fluency in French and English is mandatory.
