Junior Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Laboratory Technician to support daily laboratory operations, sample preparation, and routine testing. Working under the guidance of experienced laboratory staff, you will help deliver reliable test results, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with established quality and safety procedures.

This position is suitable for an early-career professional with foundational laboratory knowledge and a practical, structured approach to work.


Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, identify, label, and prepare samples, ensuring traceability throughout the testing process.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests according to approved methods and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist in preparing and executing defined test scenarios, including reference samples, repeat measurements, and checks under specified conditions.
  • Operate laboratory equipment within your training and authorization, and complete required pre-use checks.
  • Record test conditions, observations, and results accurately in laboratory records or electronic systems.
  • Recognize unexpected results, deviations, or equipment issues and promptly escalate them to the responsible supervisor.
  • Support investigations and repeat testing under supervision, preserving original results and documenting follow-up actions.
  • Prepare reagents and consumables, monitor stock levels, and follow applicable storage requirements.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow procedures for equipment cleaning and waste disposal.
  • Comply with laboratory safety requirements, quality standards, and data integrity principles.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Completed vocational training or a relevant qualification in laboratory technology, chemistry, biology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Foundational understanding of laboratory practices, sample handling, and measurement principles.
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment, such as pipettes, balances, and pH meters.
  • Ability to follow written instructions and document work clearly and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and seek guidance when necessary.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Initial experience gained through an apprenticeship, internship, academic laboratory, or entry-level role.
  • Exposure to quality control, structured testing, or a regulated laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Basic understanding of calibration, quality control samples, and contamination prevention.
